Agencies Sweep for Drug Suspects

Officers from four law enforcement agencies descended on Decatur and several nearby counties early Monday to arrest several suspected drug dealers.
According to Decatur County Sheriff Roy Wyatt, officers began the sweep at about 5 a.m. At least 12 suspects were taken into custody Monday and Wyatt said eight additional suspects are being sought by police.
Sheriff Wyatt said officers with the Sheriff’s Department, 24th Judicial Drug Task Force, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Highway Patrol all participated in the sweep. Officers made the arrests in Decatur, Madison, Benton, Carroll and Henderson Counties.
“Many of the suspects lived in surrounding counties and would come into Decatur County to sell their drugs,” Wyatt commented.
The investigation into the illegal drug activities has been ongoing for more than a year and a half, Wyatt reported.
Some of the suspects who were arrested Monday include:
Terrance Terrell Bolden, 34, 632 Jay Montgomery Rd, Bath Springs- 3 counts of manufacturing/sale/possession schedule II (cocaine).
Bolden allegedly sold several grams of crack cocaine to undercover officers of the Drug Task Force on October 6 and 13, 2007.
Barbara Sue Crews, 24, 18 Teague Drive Lot #1, Lexington- 1 count counterfeit controlled substance.
Crews allegedly participated in the sale of counterfeit methamphetamines on February 11, 2008.
Shannon Lee Forrest, 26, 2725 Old Decaturville Rd., Parsons- 1 count manufacturing/sale/possession schedule II, 1 count counterfeit controlled substance, 1 count schedule I-VII drug violations.
Forrest allegedly sold 29 hydrocodone pills to an undercover officer on February 1, 2008. He is also said to have sold an ounce of counterfeit methamphetamines to a Drug Task Force agent on February 11, 2008 along with Crews and a second individual.
Clyde Burton Kelly, 30, 431 Keely Rd, Holliday- 1 count manufacturing/sale/possession schedule II (meth).
Kelly allegedly sold .3 grams of methamphetamines to an undercover agent on December 11, 2008.
Christopher William Laird, 32, 1080 W.O. Baker Rd., Sugar Tree- 1 count manufacturing/sale/possession schedule II.
Laird allegedly sold 4 morphine pills to a Task Force officer on April 16, 2009.
Elizabeth Ann Leite-Jones, 49, 134 Bible Hill Rd., Parsons- 1 count manufacturing/sale/possession schedule II (meth).
Leite-Jones allegedly sold .4 grams of methamphetamines to undercover officers on November 19, 2008.
Melissa Dawn Matlock, 28, 1189 Kelly Rd., Holliday- 1 count manufacturing/possession schedule II.
Matlock was allegedly present during the sale of 6 oxycodone pills to undercover agents and was said to be the registered owner of a vehicle used during the sale on November 21, 2008.
Tyjuan Lennell Snowden, 31, 1 count sale of schedule VI (marijuana).
Snowden allegedly sold 28.3 grams of marijuana to undercover agents on December 4, 2008 for $130.00.
Zackery William Whorton, 18, 348 Bethel Farm Lane, Camden- 1 count sale of schedule IV (alprazolam).
Whorton allegedly sold 25 schedule IV pills to a Drug Task Force agent on January 13, 2009.
Three additional suspects were arrested late Monday. Information on those individuals was not available as of press time.
Bolden, Crews, and Leite-Jones are being held at the Decatur County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Snowden is in jail on a $2,500 bond. Forrest is being held on a $20,000 bond, and Kelly, Laird and Whorton are being held on a $15,000 bond. Matlock was release on a $1,000 bond.
The suspects will be arraigned next Monday in General Sessions Court.
