Parsons Police Looking For Stolen Items
by Jennifer Clendenion
2/4/10
Parsons Police investigators have recovered several items from a number of recent burglaries but are still searching for more property.
Safety Director Dale King reports that two deer rifles from two separate robberies have been recovered. Also recovered were a Garmin GPS unit and several other items.
One suspect, Corey Ray Borron, 19, was arrested in connection with the thefts. King said Borron is believed to have been in possession of stolen property which he later sold. He was charged with theft of property over $500 and theft of property over $1,000 and was released last week on a $10,000 bond.
King said he expects more arrests to follow.
Still missing is a pair of Steiner binoculars as well as a professional wrestling ring.
The wrestling ring, owned by local amateur wrestler Michael Dickson, was being stored on the back porch of a home on Georgia Ave. S. and was reported missing on Tuesday. King said the equipment, consisting of blue canvas, metal poles, plywood and thick black padding, went missing sometime in the past month. It has a value of about $6,000.
The wrestling ring was relatively large and King said whoever took the item probably used a truck and trailer to remove it from the property.
King urges anyone who may have been in the area to report any information on the crime to the police department at 731-847-9999.
King also said a number of residents have reported the theft or attempted theft of gas from parked vehicles in several areas around town.
It would be a good idea to have a locking gas cap if at all possible, King remarked. He added that residents should report any suspicious activity immediately. If you see someone walking around at night with a gas can, let us know so we can investigate, he said.
