Pot Plants Discovered Inside Closet
3/3/10
A Decaturville man was arrested early last week after officers found nearly four dozen marijuana plants growing in a closet inside his home.
Daniel Craig Bawcum, 21, was arrested and charged with possession of schedule VI drugs with intent to manufacture.
According to court records, Sheriff’s deputies were called to a domestic incident at Bawcum’s home at 652 Pattersontown Lane on February 22.
While inside the residence, deputies found a marijuana cigarette on the floor and a plastic bag containing what was believed to be marijuana. A female resident of the home then gave officers permission to search the residence.
During the search, deputies discovered 44 flower pots inside a closet with two grow lights above them on the wall and inside the door, an arrest warrant states.
The female resident then alerted deputies to the presence of a hole inside a second closet which contained a canister with a number of small bags of marijuana seeds, a small amount of marijuana, a roach clip and several packs of rolling papers.
The female resident of the home was reportedly ending her relationship with Bawcum and was removing personal items from the residence. Sheriff Roy Wyatt said she was not charged in the incident.
Bawcum was released on $25,000 bond and arraigned in General Sessions Court Monday.
